Rainbow 21 Gulkana River AlaskaRainbow Round Up – Trophy Trout Expedtions (5 Days/4 Nights):

Late summer and fall fishing on the  Gulkana is not to be missed! Our Rainbow Round-up is one of Alaska’s “best kept secrets” in terms of quality rainbow fishing and lack of crowds! The best fishing for Trophy Rainbow Trout is late July through September with the biggest ‘Bows' caught from mid- August through September. Rainbows over 20 inches are common and some reach sizes up to the 30 inch range! Thousands of spawning Chinook and Sockeye Salmon have brought  these large Rainbows and the Arctic Grayling in for the action. Most of the take is from drift fishing flies in egg or leach patterns floating over the most productive water.

Aside from big rainbows and arctic grayling, sockeye salmon are still in the river and are in great fighting   condition. If  at all, other boaters are rarely seen. Bald eagles are abundant and the Nelchina Caribou Herd has begun its annual migration through this country. The fall colors provide an impressive background for photos with your trophy fish, while the cool air has brought some relief from the long hours of the midnight sun. If you don’t want crowds, and you want great fishing,

The „Tal“ - Talachulitna River (7 Days/6 Nights):

Reachable within a 50min waterplane flight northwest of Anchorage the Talachulitna offers world class remote salmon fishing (all 5 species of pacific salmon) at a very affordable price. This river is famous for its mighty king salmon (June/July) and strong silver salmon run starting late July until September.

Our float will begin at Judd Lake, down the Talachulitna Creek, and finally into the Talachulitna River. Long stretches of class I and II water are absolutely perfect for float fishing. An exciting whitewater section of class III-IV also offers some rafting action and a fun change while fishing the plentiful salmon pools and the many tributaries flowing into the „Tal“.

Besides the many opportunities to catch silver salmon averaging 12-15lbs, you will also find many chum-, pink-, and red-salmon. The Talachulitna was also Alaskas‘ first river to have a catch and release restriction for rainbow trout. As a result, besides Arctic char and Arctic Grayling, a very healthy population of strong rainbow trout, sizes up to 20-26“, will round up this fascinating fishing expedtion.

Silver Salmon on Spey
Last but not least, spectacular scenery and wildlife (moose, brown/black bear, bald eagle, beaver, wolf...) are of course part of this amazing fishing adventure. It will get you away from the crowds and provide you the world class fresh water angling experience you are always looking for.
